Subway have just got back to us- they don't have an engineer, so if we wanted to record there we would need to take out own.
Can anyone find an email address for Rubber Biscuit?

Can you email them through Myspace?

I could, but I can't access MySpace at work.
I was just wondering if anyone else could find an email address so I could do it now?

Two hours Wednesday should be fine to run through the set list.
Recording wise we just have to suck a studio and see. Subway recommendation was from Phil based on the engineer. A rock studio will kill us, we need a versatile engineer.
It's down to us to decide what we want, and instruct the engineer best we can. We should make a crib sheet for each song or something.
Songs wise I've bias for established ones only, Something & Nothing, My World, In Your Arse and maybe a re-run of Control now we are better at it.

Seeing as Subway don't have their own engineer anymore I think we can count them out.

Yes, the recommendation is really for the engineer more than the studio.
What's the issue with Control? Other than the timing mistake near the end it sounds okay, though it could sound better. The crashes didn't record well for me.

I don't think there is an issue with the recording- it's just that it would be nice to have a `control` (no pun intended) piece so we can compare recordings.

Reply from StuckOnAName:
Hi Matt, Thanks for getting in touch with us and don't worry we can do the whole live recording with minimal to no overdubs no problem. We dont try and force the band to record in a way they aren't comfortable. Weekends are charged at £130 a day plus gear hire (£10 for drumkit/guitar amp/cab/etc), mixing is generally charged at £15 a song if it has to be done 'offline' (outside of the booked sessions). Let me know what you think, Boulty StuckOnAName

Reply from The Crash Factory (sounds more promising):
Hiya Matt Thanks for the message - I think we could make a great record with you! The band-in-a-room approach seems to suit your sound pretty well, and I think foru songs in two days is a good aim with that in mind. I take it you don't want too many overdubs, nose-flute solos etc? As for availability, we've got the 26th and 27th july or the 2nd and 3rd of August in the near future, or more towards the beginning of September. Two days will cost £320; we need a deposit of 25% to make a booking, but as soon as that's in the dates are yours, with the balance to be paid any time before your session starts. We're quite flexible with the band-in-a-room thing, with a few options for where and when everything is played, so I'll bet we can come up with something that's comfortable for you! Any questions, anything like that, just drop me a lin ehere, or give me a call on 07814 131840. I look forward to pointing microphones at you! Mark Studio Manager The Crash Factory, Nottingham

I have been recommended Paper Stone Studios, on Haydn Road in Sherwood...
It is part owned/run by a guy who plays in a band with my friend. He is a jazz pianist, so I don't think he would have any problem recording our sound.
Apparently they also have bands rehearse there, so maybe we could look at that as well?

I'd love to get back into the studio at the begining of August. What does the drummer and the wife think?

Aye, count me in!
If we are talking about weekends, I can't do the later ones in August - 16th and 23rd.
Should be okay for 2/3 and 9/10 Aug though.

Cool! Now all we need to do is find out what the drummer wants to do.
Has anyone heard from him by the way?
